RED DRESS DAY

Tuesday, May 5 | 9 AM - 6 PM

May 5 marks Red Dress Day (Msko-mjigoodenh Giizhigad), the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S). This day honours the lives lost and raises awareness of the ongoing impacts on Indigenous families and communities across Turtle Island.

Red dresses displayed in public spaces serve as powerful symbols of remembrance and reflection.

Community members are invited to visit the Red Dress Exhibit at Sankofa Square from 9AM - 6PM on Tuesday, May 5, a visible installation that brings awareness to these ongoing injustices. Afternoon programming starting at 1:30PM.

Have a red dress to donate to the exhibit?
Community members are invited to donate red dresses for the Red Dress Exhibit. Sankofa Square will be accepting donations on May 5 between 9 am and 8 pm. Please stop by the Security Office (located on the right side of the stage) at Sankofa Square to drop off donations.
