OCADU Student Public Art Exhibition 2026: World Building
September 1 to 30, 2026
This year’s animated exhibition explores the theme of world building and the multiple ways of how that might be interpreted. From bold expressions of colour to the wide exploration of characters, this exhibition showcases the imagination and desire to build immersive worlds.
With five animations being played simultaneously, each artist brings you into a cohesive visual landscape that is tied to their personal artistic language.
About the Artists:
Angellina Do
ARTIST bio
My name is Angellina Do. I study experimental animation at OCADU. I draw and make silly little cartoons. My dream is to produce my own indie cartoon. Growing up, I've always loved watching cartoons on TV, and I hope that I can one day give others that same feeling I felt as a child. The love I have for cartoons has driven me down this career path and I hope to be able to become a fulfilling animator. I hope to become the kind of animator who can effectively tell interesting stories for others to enjoy.
ARTIST STATeMENT
My 5 animations depict the world of imagination and fantasy in my head, using abstract themes to tell these stories. The animations consists of whacky characters I have developed in my art style that are chaotic and fun. The world my characters live in is colourful and bright.
The use of saturated colours helps express the vibrant world I want to make. I work with 2D digital animation. Using a traditional animation technique called frame by frame animation. Which requires drawing each frame by hand. I use digital software and a drawing tablet.

Bryn Latanville
Artist Bio
Bryn Latanville-Dillon is a Toronto-based artist currently studying Experimental Animation at OCAD University. Her practice often combines digital illustration and 2D animation to explore audience connection. Through soft, warm visuals with a sense of emotional depth, She strives to make art from her passions that will resonate with viewers on a personal and reflective level.
ARTIST STATeMENT
For the theme of world-building this year, I wanted to create something that re-imagines familiar spaces in the city in a dynamic way that catches the viewer’s attention. This animation re-imagines Toronto’s iconic attractions like the Eaton Centre, Toronto Island and train line cars.
Through saturated colour and subtle character animation, we are able to see the city in the way our protagonist does. This animation invites the viewer to observe the shift in perspective as they watch a cat moving in areas familiar to us, and unfamiliar to them. The design featured here is inspired off of my cat Gladdy, who went missing in 2022. This piece is my way of both honouring him as I imagine how small he must have felt in such a large space, and shifting that dynamic in a fun and visually engaging way.

ARTIST STATeMENT
This year’s creative theme, centred on world-building, aligns perfectly with the work I’ve been engaged in recently, and it has provided me with an excellent opportunity to present my ideas to everyone in their entirety. The sci-fi world I have constructed is an extension of the real world. I aim to portray, as fully as possible, the distinct characteristics of different factions and regions within this world, as well as the circumstances in which the characters find themselves. I have always held a keen interest in narrative structure and world-building, and my creative work has long been inspired and influenced by the Gundam series. This creative experience has also given me many new insights and perspectives on these matters.
